How to control the
Paper Speed on the DA612S-2005 (Envelope Imager I-2005) and
DA613/613SL (Envelope Imager II/II-2005)Note: The
DA612 and DA612S do not have paper speed control. Only the
DA612S-2005 and DA613/613SL have paper speed control.
Symptom:
You are trying to slow down the paper speed setting; but the
printer’s paper speed setting is reset to a higher value, as soon as
the print job is sent.
Reason:
At the beginning and end of each print job (when using the Rena
driver) the printer is sent a command which resets the printer back
to its default settings. Along with many other features, this sets
the print quality back to 600 DPI, which in-turn resets the paper
speed to # 4. Then the software sends the setup commands required
for the print job. These commands include the selected, print
quality setting. When the print quality is reset from 600 DPI to the
selected print quality, the speed is also reset to the maximum
value, based on the selected print quality.
How to manually
control the paper speed:
In order to keep the speed from being reset, you must do the
following.
-
Set and “local
lock” the “Print Quality” function to the desired value. See “How
to “Local Lock” Printer Settings:” procedure below.
-
Set the “Paper
Speed” function to the desired value.
-
Although it is
not necessary, you may also wish to set the “Auto Paper Speed”
function (found under Special Functions) to “off”. Doing so will
eliminate the ramp-up that occurs at the beginning of every run
and after any pauses in printing.
How to "Local Lock" Printer Settings:
To
"local lock" a setting press the right most key on the printer’s
keyboard while viewing the menu feature you want to "local lock".
You will get the message "Local Lock: yes or no". Toggle between the
choices using the Prev or Next key and accept the choice using the
Enter key.
Note:
When using FlexMail or JetMate, the paper speed is controlled by the
software program. You must set the desired paper speed value, within
the software program. Setting and “local locking” the print quality
will not keep these programs from controlling the paper speed.
IMPORTANT!
Please be sure that you always set and “local lock” the paper size.
Also verify that the paper size is correctly measured by the
printer.
When using a Rena printer driver, do not set the menu feature
"Settings Locked" to "yes". Doing so will cause garbage characters
to be printed and or other printer control problems.
The following menu features are the only features that should be
"local locked", when using a Rena printer driver.
