Using the appropriate Rena printer driver will
give you the ability to print from most Windows programs. However, if you
want to take advantage of all the unique features of your Rena
Systems printer (printing: true type fonts, graphics, postal indicia, return
address, etc.), we recommend that you use the
FlexMail 3
envelope design program, offered by Rena Systems Inc.

FlexMail
3
FlexMail 3
is a high end envelope design program, that we have
found to be very flexible and user-friendly.
FlexMail 3 is written by the same company (FlexSystems) that develops our
printer drivers. FlexMail
3 was written in close cooperation with Rena, so it works seamlessly
with many of our printers.
FlexMail 3 will work
with most Rena printer models and it is highly recommended when
using the following Rena printer models: XPS-ProMail 3.0/4.0,
Envelope Imager XT3.0/XT4.0, Envelope Imager 3.0/4.0, Envelope
Imager 2.5, DA620 (Digital Imaging
System), XPS-80/90 (DA630M/A), PS1000/2000, XPS1000/2000,
XPS-3000 and Envelope Imager 2XP.
Note:
FlexMail 3 must be used with the DA620 (Digital Imaging System) and the XPS-90 (DA630A).
Please contact your
local Rena Systems Dealer, or
Rena Systems Inc (610-650-9170), to obtain a trial version of
FlexMail 3 and to purchase
a license for this product.

Note to Windows
NT/2000/XP Users of the DA606/607:
Drivers for these newer operating systems are available,
however, since these models were developed many years before these
operating systems were available, performance will be affected by
the use of these newer operating systems.
For Example: When printing True Type fonts from these newer
operating systems to a DA606/607 model, you will notice that it
takes multiple head movements to print each line. This in turn
will greatly reduce your throughput. This symptom is due to the way data is sent from these newer
operating systems to these older "line printers". Unlike
Windows 95/98, where each line is preceded with a single
positioning command; in Windows NT/2000/XP each word, in the line is preceded by a
new positioning
command. These multiple positioning commands cause the printer to
make multiple head (cartridge) movements.
Because of this limitation, we recommend
using the DA606/607 printer models from a Windows 95/98 platform
if you plan to print True Type Fonts.
The above results assume your printer contains the latest versions
of EPROMs (internal printer firmware). If the EPROM versions
within your printer, are early versions, you may experience
"garbage printing" or "stair stepped" lines,
when attempting to print True Type fonts.
To avoid these problems, when using a DA606/607 printer driver on
a Windows NT/2000/XP platform, it is strongly suggested that you
only choose and print "internal printer fonts". An internal printer font is a font,
which is identical in name and point size to a font available
within the printer. Examples: Cour12, TmsRm12, Helv10.
NOTE:
We do not have Windows printer drivers for Rena dot matrix
printer models (DA3xx). For suggestions on how to print to a DA3xx
printer model from Windows, click on the link below. DA3xx Older Rena Printers (Dot Matrix Printers)
NOTE: For RENA
DA595, color inkjet printer, please use the HP DeskJet 890C
drivers.

downloads page.
* The PS1000
controller is used in some XPS-1000s. The PS2000 controller is
used in some XPS-1000s, all XPS-2000 and XPS-3000 systems. If
using a XPS-1000/2000/3000, please be sure to choose the correct
printer driver (PS1000 or PS2000 driver), with the corresponding
number of print units, for your system. Any unit with a
PS-1000 will have the controller mounted above the base - look for
the PS-1000 label.

Users
We recommend using the
appropriate Rena Windows driver.
Alternative Drivers:
Generic/Text Only:
In some cases you may have success using the Generic/Text
Only driver loaded from your Windows operating system CD.
Please be aware that, we have found, many newer Windows programs
(example: MS-Word 95 or newer) will not work properly with the
Generic Text Only driver. You will need to experiment to see if
your particular Windows program will work with this driver or not.
For
additional information on how to print to your Rena printer from
Windows NT4/2000, click here.
HP DeskJet 500:
You may want to load and try the HP DeskJet 500 driver for
Windows NT4 or 2000. Please load the driver from your Windows
operating systems CD, not from HP's web site. Please be
aware that, we have found, many newer Windows programs (example:
MS-Word 95 or newer) will not work properly with the HP DeskJet
500 driver. You will need to experiment to see if your particular
Windows program will work with this driver or not.

Windows NT4/2000, click here.
HP LaserJet
5si:
A better solution for users of the Rena DA608,
DA610, DA612/613 or DA615 printers is to load and try the HP
LaserJet 5si driver for Windows NT4 or 2000. Please load the
driver from your Windows operating systems CD, not from
HP's web site.
Make sure the driver is configured as follows:

Alternative Drivers:
Generic/Text Only:
If you are using Windows 95/98/ME with the
Generic/Text-Only Driver, you will need to:
- Add the Generic Text Only
driver from your Windows 95/98/ME CD.
Please be aware that, we have
found, many newer Windows programs (example: MS-Word 95 or
newer) will not work properly with the Generic Text Only
driver. You will need to experiment to see if your particular

HP LaserJet 5si: Windows 98
users Only!
A better solution for users of the Rena DA608,
DA610, DA612/613 or DA615 printers is to load and try the HP
LaserJet 5si driver for Windows 98. Please load the driver from
your Windows operating systems CD, not from HP's web site.
Make sure the driver is configured as follows:
- In the Graphics tab, choose
raster graphics.
- You may also want to change the
resolution from 600dpi to 300dpi, to reduce the amount of
information that needs to be sent to the printer, which may
improve print speeds.
- In the Font tab, choose
"Download TrueType fonts as bitmap soft fonts".
- All other driver settings
should be left at their default settings.

Windows
3.1x Users
Drivers for the
Windows 3.1x operations system are no longer provided or
supported.
Alternative Drivers:
Generic Text Only: The Generic Text Only driver can
be found on your original Windows 3.1 Disks. If your Windows
program will not work with the Generic Text Only driver, you may
want to try the HP DeskJet 500 Driver.
HP DeskJet 500: This
Windows 3.1x HP DeskJet 500 driver can be found on your original
Windows 3.1x disks, or you can go to HP's
FTP site and download the most recent Windows 3.1x version of
the HP DeskJet 500 driver.
Macintosh
Users
MAC Printer
Drivers:
At this time there are no Macintosh printer drivers available for
any of our Rena Models, except for the DA595 color printer, which
may be able to use the HP 890C driver.
As a possible alternative, you may want to try the "HP
DeskJet 500 Driver", "LaserJet 5si Driver", or
"Generic Text Only Driver" for MAC.
For the Rena
DA-595 color printer, go to
HP Support
and download the Mac OS driver for the 890C printer. This
may aid in compatibility issues.
NOTE:
There has been talk about the newer PowerMac and I MAC PC’s
being able to run Windows 95/98 software and use Windows 95/98
printer drivers. If this is true, you may want to consider using
a Windows 95/98 software package and loading the appropriate
Windows 95 Rena Printer Driver. We have not been able to verify
that this type of approach will or will not work. If you have
any information regarding this matter, we would appreciate
hearing from you. Please e-mail details regarding this matter to
support@renausa.com.

To use Rena Models
DA-300/305/306/307/313 with Windows, you must use a
"text-only" driver.
There are no "Rena drivers" for these printer
models. These models were produced when DOS was the popular
operating system.
Windows 3.1 add the "text only" printer driver
using your original Windows 3.1x disks.
Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP add the "text only"
printer driver using your original Windows CD.
Note: You may experience problems when using the

RENASet is a DOS
program that allows you to setup your Rena DA-590, DA-606, and
DA-610 from the PC. It allows you to store up to 99 different
presets (jobs) and it makes downloading fonts and graphics a snap!
It is also a good tool for testing the printer.
NOTE: The setup feature in the RENASet program is only
useful when using a DOS based program, or a Windows based program
in conjunction with the Generic Text Only printer driver, or
Standard Text Only printer driver. It is not useful when using a
Windows program in conjunction with a Rena printer driver, HP
DeskJet 500 driver, or HP LaserJet 5si driver, since the Windows
program will "erase" the internal printer settings you
have selected and set using the RENASet program.
The file will
automatically unzip to your A:\ drive, then from the A:\ Prompt
type:
A:\install
